Emmetsburg Celtic's football star,
Lyle Ucan was traded to Miami for a 15th Round Pick &
$1,000,0000. Current Celtic management was reportedly very pleased
with the deal.
"We have no idea how we are
going to come up with a million dollars but we had to get rid of one Seasoned
Offensive Back to stay under the salary
cap!!!," reported Dan McCain, grounds keeper & Vice-President for
Player Development. In this football league as in leagues, the SOBs
seem to make the most most money.
"The problem," says
General Manager & ticket taker, Tim McCain "is that we have too
many SOBs on the team! An opportunity like this Miami trade
rarely... I mean never comes along. With a 15th round draft pick we
have an chance to pick up some body who can play football. Maybe
even a linesmen or a short yardage quarterback!"
According to Celtic
football historian, archivist and activist, Ron Nagle, fate has played
a cruel trick on the Celtic stars of today. "Back in the glory
days," reminisces Nagle "this trade never would have
occurred. The players were part of the community, people unlike you
and me but they lived here!!"
"Today," according to
Nagle, "these football heroes are here for one reason: to play the
game. They don't care about winning records, it's all about playing
football. Sure that sound good and noble but it that anyway to run a
winning football team???"
The Celtic Football Team will open
the 2000 season with a play-off game against the NFC champion. Last
years' Nordic Football Conference champion, the Wilmar Lutefisk are still
stinking after being blanked by the Celtics 51-1. With the sole
except of 1 point given to the Lutefisk to avoid a shutout, all the points
were scored by the ball crossing the goal line.
